Updates at North East Dance

Small and frequent updates we share with our visitors and customers
Our staff have been very busy these past few months gaining new skills and finishing various trainings and courses. We always strive to improve our services and deliver more individual oriented services. Our achievements: Dolly has successfully finished a mental counselling course. Now as a mental health counsellor she can assess and support mental and emotional health of our community members. She can also offer coping strategies for navigating life's struggles. Emily and Penny have completed youth worker course which will give them a stepping stone into youth work, strengthening the timetable at our brand new youth and community hub. Girls learned new ways to approach young people and have a better understanding about their needs in the community. They gained additional skills and confidence to run youth sessions for ages 13-19. Jade has achieved a level 2 certificate in understanding autism which equips her to deliver more of our SEND sessions and accommodating for the needs of our learners.

Alongside our regular contracted work we have been busy delivering and planning projects thanks to funding from County Durham Community Foundation. Our ‘Kids Together’ project funded by Poverty Hurts grant has been a great success and we’re excited to carry this work over into 2024. We are also planning two different project due to start in January 2024, thanks to the Stanley Fund we will be able to continue working with one of our very special groups at Stanley Pathways and with funding from the NHS Waiting Well grant we will continue and expand our delivery at the Hub of Wishes in Newton Aycliffe. As always we’re grateful to continue to uplift and support our community and excited to continue our work towards healthier and happier communities.

We are making our beautiful studio even better! Unfortunately this means that until January 2024 our offices and dance studio are closed. All our outreach work is running as normal, you can find us in local schools, community venues and leisure centres but wedding tuition courses and studio hire are not available at the moment. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but very excited to share with you our brand new space in January next year! Keep your eyes peeled for the updates and extra information.
