Updates at North East Dance

Small and frequent updates we share with our visitors and customers
Ageless Athletes Sport England
We’re thrilled to introduce our new project, "Ageless Athletes," a community-centred initiative designed to improve the health and well-being of Sunderland’s senior population. This programme aims to deliver inclusive, seated exercise sessions for people aged 60 and above, including those with chronic conditions and mobility challenges. Through engaging and accessible activities, we want to foster a healthier, happier, and more connected senior community. We’re excited to kick off this project and welcome the seniors of Sunderland to join us for a fun and inclusive fitness experience. It’s never too late to start moving, and with the right support, everyone can enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle. If you or someone you know is interested, get in touch with us through our website or social media. Let’s work together to create a healthier, more connected community for Sunderland’s seniors.

HAF summer 2024
This July and August, we were proud to deliver again the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) project at Fawdon Community Centre in Newcastle. As usual we supported children eligible for free school meals by providing them with a free, healthy lunch and a range of fun and active sessions. This summer children enjoyed a variety of activities, including dance, sport, gymnastics, and active games, all designed to keep them engaged, active, and healthy during the summer holidays. We look forward to continuing this delivery, follow us on social media for next dates and updates on the locations.

new achievements
Our staff have been very busy these past few months gaining new skills and finishing various trainings and courses. We always strive to improve our services and deliver more individual oriented services. Our achievements: Dolly has successfully finished a mental counselling course. Now as a mental health counsellor she can assess and support mental and emotional health of our community members. She can also offer coping strategies for navigating life's struggles. Emily and Penny have completed youth worker course which will give them a stepping stone into youth work, strengthening the timetable at our brand new youth and community hub. Girls learned new ways to approach young people and have a better understanding about their needs in the community. They gained additional skills and confidence to run youth sessions for ages 13-19. Jade has achieved a level 2 certificate in understanding autism which equips her to deliver more of our SEND sessions and accommodating for the needs of our learners.
